futurama is one of those shows that lures you in by being funny and then rips your fucking heart out
If you didn’t know the hand was her father, the squid thing her mother, her parents left her at an orphanage when she was a baby but in reality were looking out for her all her life
what makes it even sadder is the reason they left her in an orphanage. they didn’t want her to know she was a mutant. they wanted her to live a normal human life so they gave her up while they live in the sewers as mutants.
And this is what happens when a masterfully crafted katana collides with a masterfully crafted longsword.
Suck it, katana
And that is what happens when a masterfully crafted scalpel collides with a masterfully crafted guillotine.
Does nobody understand that longswords and katanas are two different kinds of tool?Longswords are essentially sharpened fucksticks designed to destroy the shit out of anything resembling armor that comes their way. They shatter bone, jelly flesh, and essentially fuck people up by sheer inexorable force of being a goddamn sharp steel bar.
Katanas don’t do that. They’re not meant to withstand collision with armor or a brick wall or a charging fully outfitted warhorsebecause the circumstances of its development didn’t call for that. It’s a precision instrument. It’s designed to be lightweight, outmaneuver, and find weak spots, not go barreling into people hack-n-slashing your way to victory. It’s a specialized tool.
In a sense this reflects a core difference between cultures; katanas are a shitton of work and preparation to make the execution as efficient and streamlined as possible, while longswords are more durably and simply made in response to a climate that would require a soldier to be a one-man battering ram in battle.
That’s true, however a lot of people think that katanas are hack and slash instruments, and this post demonstrates that it’s not. Really, both parts of the post are making the same point. Katana’s are precision weapons that require enormous amounts of skill, they can’t just cut a person in half, no matter how cool that would be.
i'm pan too and though i feel happy to see some representation, it's not the best way of doing it. it's good to see the change but i just thought i'd share my 2 cents. (i know not every pan will be offended but some might and i don't want to speak for everyone, i just think he -duggan- could've worded it better) but thanks for your input, i was wondering what others might think of it. x
I think he was just trying to be funny and it’s better than the last pansexual character’s outing when they said that Daken’s sexuality was more about control (as in, controlling others)
So we’ve gone from psychopaths to sluts; it’s not a great improvement but I’ll take it.
He was joking…..
Your so far up in denial it’s almost admirable, sir or madam.
Seriously, why do you not want to accept this? Surely there must be a reason? I don’t really believe you’re homophobic but come on.
Because I grew up with Deadpool, I was there in the beginning and I see the character as a representation of me and who I really am so every change every minute difference that is added on to Deadpool feels personal. Maybe that’s why it’s touching on my ego on who I am. You might say that is wrong or I shouldn’t take it that way but I’m human I have feelings.
I see this ever growing trend on tumblr and other various social media: social justice everywhere. People want to continually categorized in group things under certain terms and words and its not even necessary.
Why can’t Deadpool just be this guy that loves fun, attention and that is constantly on a journey of understanding himself and become a better person? He cracks jokes, tries to make people smile that is the essence of his characterisation and he just wants to be loved for who he is and what he wants to become. That’s what I’ve learned from him, he’s broken but he still carries on why do people feel it is necessary to label him.
